South Carolina Highway Patrol reports five fatal crashes over the three day holiday weekend with none in Aiken County. The latest crash occurred at 6 p.m. Sunday in Pickens County. Arnold Jessie Marie Easley a 10 year old girl died in a one vehicle crash. Darrell Ray Childers 22 of Bishopville died when the vehicle overturned on Roger Road in Lee County.
The 31st annual Aiken's Makin festival will feature a new food court on Fairfield Street with 27 food vendors offering heavier meals. Shoppers can sit at tented round tables or chairs to eat and recharge before more browsing along Park Avenue Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Organizations like the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce and local vendors emphasize enhanced seating and pick-me-up offerings to enrich the market experience.
