State offers home based care expansion in three counties
The program will be piloted in Spartanburg Cherokee and Union counties before statewide rollout next year. It aims to give seniors like 86 year old Roberta Rentz more in home care flexibility, reducing reliance on nursing homes and cutting state costs. Medicaid funds may cover home improvements and ramps, with HHSD staff monitoring proper use and eligibility estimated at about 11 000 seniors and disabled residents.
