Obama campaigned in Colorado and Vice President Biden in Pennsylvania as senior surrogates sought to deflect discomforting questions and turn them into a criticism of Republican challenger Mitt Romney. David Axelrod said the average American recognizes it took years to create the crisis that erupted in 2008 and peaked in January 2009 and it will take time to work through it.
