Aikens Makin event boosts Tri-Development bake sale
Tri Development Center, a United Way agency serving people with disabilities, relies on its Aiken’s Makin booth for major funds. After a one year lapse due to a missed invitation, director Renee Staggs notes the bake sale profits support programs, with bakers prepping began Tuesday for a Friday start and a two day event on September 7 and 8 in downtown Aiken.

Cotton Patch Gospel to be staged at St John’s United Methodist
The Cotton Patch Gospel, a bluegrass musical based on Clarence Jordan’s Cotton Patch Version, will run Thursday to Sunday at St John’s United Methodist Church in Ebenezer Center Aiken. Directed by John Stapleton who also narrates as Matthew the central figure, it reimagines Jesus life in rural Georgia with country songs and local musicians. Proceeds support Aiken area Habitat for Humanity with tickets 5 for adults and 3 for children under 12.
