Maine priests reflect diverse paths to the priesthood
In Maine five men join the class of 2007 as the state’s largest seminary intake since 1995. They range from engineers to a lawyer and a social worker, ages 26 to 52, with March, a former electrical engineer, set to complete studies at Catholic University. Despite a shrinking priesthood, the trend shows commitment amid nationwide clergy declines and sexual abuse scandals.
