Farmers to Get Funds for Losses in Aiken County

Aiken County ASCS will begin distributing federal aid to farmers with crop losses on September 14. About 70 farmers have applied, with each eligible for up to 100 dollars per acre though funds may not cover all losses. Partial loss cases require production data. About 20 farmers participate in the Emergency Feed Program, receiving up to nine dollars per hundred pounds of feed loss. Hay and feed damage due to worms and heavy rainfall are cited, with cotton soybean and peach losses varying widely.

Savannah River Site eyed for more spent fuel storage
