Aiken Names Kim Abney Assistant City Manager
Kim Abney, longtime Aiken resident and city employee, was chosen as the next assistant city manager. She has served as the city's finance director since January 2008 after starting in December 1982 and is a CPA. Abney has chaired and participated in multiple local organizations and is active in professional accounting associations.

United Way Aiken County aims for 2.7 million in 2018 drive
The United Way of Aiken County kicked off its 2018 Fundraising Campaign at a Friday luncheon at First Presbyterian Church Family Life Center in Aiken with a New Orleans theme. Campaign chair Stephanie Franklin portrayed Princess Tiana, while board chair John Mickalon played Prince Naveen. The goal is 2,709,560, up slightly from 2,685,708 in 2017, to fund programs aiding women, children, seniors, and the unemployed in crisis.
