Moonshine operation destroyed in Beech Island raid

ATFD agents razed a six-tank moonshine facility behind a Beech Island rural home near Downer Elementary School. The setup valued at about 10,000 dollars could produce 1,500 gallons weekly, with tanks heated by gas fired mash units and a 2,000 gallon mash per charge. The plant, active about three weeks, was visible from the historic Redcliffe house once owned by the Hammond family.
