Bob Hope Booed by Troops in Vietnam Tour Start
Comedian Bob Hope opens his 1969 Vietnam tour at Lai Khe with 15 000 troops in attendance. Kenneth D. Smith of the U S Special Services Agency says entertainers like Hope are now unacceptable to overseas troops as sentimental patriotic material fails to appeal to young GIs. At Hickam AFB Honolulu Vice President Spiro Agnew bows to a crowd member departing with a letter from a young couple.
