Aiken Man Ronny Bates Among Beirut Bombing Dead

An Aiken resident Ronny Bates identified among U S servicemen killed in the October 23 Beirut Marine headquarters bombing. Bates, a Navy medic with eight years service, was detached to the Marines in Lebanon. He is survived by his wife Linda Bates of Camp Lejeune and their two-year-old daughter Laura, plus his parents and four brothers.
