Former engineer Cantelou sues dozens over New Ellenton sewer mess
Former New Ellenton town engineer George E Cantelou filed a retaliatory lawsuit in Columbia naming nearly two dozen defendants including United We Stand America and William E Bell. He alleges these parties caused him to lose work by spreading criticism tied to the towns 5 million sewer project that led to theft charges against Mayor Randy Shaw. The suit follows earlier actions in 1995 against the town attorney John Harte and the McNair law firm. Harte was later dismissed and an appellate court upheld that ruling. Darryl L Williams now represents Cantelou in the Richland County action.
