The Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce reports 89 percent of responding members favor the proposed county council form of government with 11 percent opposing. The chamber will not take an official stance due to its nonpartisan by laws and partisan overtones surrounding the referendum.
Allied commands report 43 Americans killed in action last week with 279 wounded, as fighting occurs in Cambodia and air attacks in Vietnam are curtailed by a storm. The total casualties reach 322, the lowest since March 5, 1966, marking a three death increase from the prior week.
