Aiken property changes hands at good prices

Real estate activity rises in Aiken with winter residents arriving. George Meade of Dayton bought the Hinckle place off Whiskey Road for 65000, to be occupied by the Meade family this winter. Holley Motor Company purchased a Main Street vacant lot for 8000 and plans a brick business building. Charles Weeks bought York Street Edgefield Avenue lot for 2200 from Ida Cleckley.

State v Boyd Murder Case Carried to Next Term

The case of the State versus D. Boyd for the murder of Sterling Rhodes of Augusta was continued to the next term. The continuance followed Dr. L. D. Boone’s testimony that Boyd’s mother, the main witness, was ill and unable to appear. Rhodes, a Richmond County farmer, was killed when Boyd allegedly shot him after an argument at Boyd’s home.

Aiken County Girl Wins 38rd Health Contest Place

Miss Beulah Livingston of Kitchings Mill won third place in the 4 H health contest for farm girls at Columbia. Her sister Mary Livingston previously won state first and competed nationally in Chicago. Ethel Tuberville of Tubervaille took first and Annie Chapman of Sandy Springs was second.
