Early Halloween parade and candy event in Aiken draws thousands

About 5,000 children ages 12 and younger dressed in costumes lined Pendleton Street in downtown Aiken for Trick or Treat on Pendleton Street. The City of Aiken Parks Recreation and Tourism sponsored the event with volunteers handing out candy from car trunks and SUVs. A costume parade by age group offered prizes, and families enjoyed carnival games across Hayne Avenue. Zoe Emerling, 14, celebrated trick or treating as a garden gnome amid a family day with no house-to-house running after dark.
