War Horse football reigns with state titles and strong legacy
Barnwell High School football under coach Wier secured back to back state championships in 1987 and 1988, with the Warhorses reaching the state finals multiple times during his 20 year tenure. Garrick, another Warhorse coach, sports a 4.18 overall record and two state semifinal appearances. Community figures praise the program’s toughness and family atmosphere as the era’s glory returns.
