Gas well explosion in Bienville Parish kills seven workers
BRYCELAND La A natural gas well exploded and burned Saturday afternoon killing seven of the 13 crew members. Two workers were uninjured and four were wounded with one hospitalized. The fire hampered rescue as the derrick leaned and pipes threatened to blow. The blaze erupted about 2 pm as the crew completed a well in Bienville Parish, about 45 miles east of Shreveport. The cause was not known. The company prioritized caring for workers and gaining control of the well before investigation.
