Sand Renourishment Plan Wins Coastal Council Backing
Myrtle Beach report says a $4.5 million project to place 1 million cubic yards of sand along the shoreline received approval from a state Coastal Council committee. About 50 000 truck loads would come from west of the Intracoastal Waterway, with 600 000 cubic yards due by March and the remaining 400 000 in winter 1986.

Artificial Heart Implant In Pittsburgh Man in Critical Condition
A 47 year old factory worker in Pittsburgh was implanted with a Jarvik-7 artificial heart as a temporary measure until a human heart is found. Thomas J. Gaidosh underwent a six hour operation at Presbyterian University Hospital and is in critical condition. He is the third patient to receive a Jarvik-7 as a stopgap implant. In Hershey Anthony Mandia remains in critical but stable condition a week after becoming the first recipient of the artificial Penn State heart.
