Discovery launches to begin most complex space station task
Space Shuttle Discovery and a seven member crew blasted into orbit from Cape Canaveral to start the most challenging space station construction mission yet. The launch passed with little ice on fuel lines, clouds stayed away, and organizers praised the luck. NASA aims to install living quarters, relocate a girder and solar wings, and conduct five spacewalks during an 11 day to 1 1/2 week stay, with the crew of Pamela Melroy and Peggy Whitson leading the effort.
