Knife threat sparks assault charge in Aiken park dispute
Cheryl McKinney, 51, of Greenville Street, was detained after pulling a knife during a dispute over a man in a park on Union Street. She faced third degree assault and battery and disorderly conduct charges, with a knife found on her and she was released by Wednesday morning.

Two Aiken apartments struck by gunfire
Police investigated a Tuesday shooting at Colleton Avenue in Aiken that struck two apartment units. Seven bullets hit one unit and a door was breached while a kitchen wall was also penetrated. a woman and her 5 year old grandson were inside but unharmed. A North Augusta man, Benjamin Russell Donald, 46, was arrested after a brief manhunt for failure to appear and a bond violation following an undercover sting. Authorities involved include the Aiken Department of Public Safety and the Aiken County Sheriff's Office with federal authorities taking custody.
