Life of longtime Aiken Electric worker Frank Sorgee Jr.
Frank Sorgee Jr. aged 17 joined Aiken Electric Cooperative in August 1945 as World War II ended. He rose through the ranks to become data processing supervisor after an on‑the‑job accident redirected his career from lineman to clerk and computer expert. A beloved colleague and retiree with 45 years of service, he was active in the Short Circuit Club and Masonic Lodge 156 A.F.M., cherished photography, and valued family and friends. He died October 15 after a brief illness.

A critique of copy editing emphasizes final polish to avoid dangling phrases and missteps. It cites examples from Bush Georgia leads and Knights Ridder style errors, urging editors to fix subject noun alignment, parallelism, and stray adjectives for clear, precise prose.
Economists say economy not Bush fault amid stagnation
Two former presidents advisers say the slow growth since 1973 is not solely George Bush’s fault. Lyle Gramley and Herbert Stein credit broader debt and postwar bounces, warn a recession lingers, and note tax cuts and stimulus proposals offer only limited near term relief. Ed and Yvonne Deal appear in Washington context as voters seek change.
