New York AP reports the NFL will reduce active roster size from 85 to 55 for games the weekend of November 1. The active roster stays at 45 with 10 on a reserve squad. The 85-man limit was set after the 24 day strike to allow teams to carry replacement players.
Milwaukee third baseman Paul Molitor had elbow surgery performed by Dr. Frank Jobe who found a small fragment. He had injuries last season and was twice on the disabled list. He will start throwing again in six weeks and was an AL DH All Star selection by The Sporting News.
Three University of Georgia athletes Toney Mack Kevin Jackson and Aaron Chubb pleaded innocent to charges from a September 26 campus fraternity party melee in Athens.
