Washington AP reports that despite reduced hog production the United States faces a large frozen ham stockpile. Agricultural economists note ample inventories could yield consumer bargains as the holiday season nears, though demand uncertainty remains.
Carl W. Swanson of the Marigold Society of America says the rose would exclude many and criticizes the Senate's September 16 adoption of a resolution naming the rose as national floral emblem. Swanson, a Warren Michigan florist, urges broader representation of the people.
