Human error blamed for Atlantis beam damage
Investigators ruled human error caused a foot long aluminum beam to be left inside the Atlantis engine compartment damaging the shuttle. The beam part of a work platform was found Oct 3 after the shuttle was washed upright in an assembly room. Lockheed Space Operations Co. spokesman J B Kump said the nine member team found no fatigue or scheduling issues. The damage was not expected to delay a secret military flight planned for Nov 10.
