Indigent Director Named and Resignations Fray in Aiken

The Aiken council, after an executive session, announced the resignation of Funk in August amid a salary dispute and named an indigent director with a June 1977 to present creation. The body unanimously approved issuing 2.9 million in industrial revenue bonds for the R E Phelan Inc plant near Aiken and signed contracts related to the New Hope project with Lybrand Rich Cain and Simons. Fay Hatcher abstained on the law firm contract, citing preference for other county lawyers. Warner defended the selection as the planning commission’s choice already doing work on the project.

Funding Approved For USC Aiken Budget
