North Augusta Man Stabbed During Evening Argument
A 37-year-old North Augusta man was stabbed in the rib cage at a Celeste Avenue home during an argument around 7:20 p.m. The victim, who had been drinking, said he pushed the suspect and was stabbed as the other man defended himself. A female witness noted the victim was intoxicated and belligerent, and that the victim attacked first. The suspect claimed self-defense.

NAHS Names Two New Assistant Principals
The Aiken County Board of Education appointed two new assistant principals at North Augusta High School. Sheldon Higgenbottom will be a full-time assistant principal and Perry Smith a part-time assistant principal and teacher. Higgenbottom, a North Augusta resident, earned a BA in political science from USC Aiken and master’s degrees in curriculum and instruction and in educational administration from the University of Phoenix. He previously taught special education in Augusta and Aiken County. Smith, also from North Augusta, holds a master’s in education from Southern Wesleyan University, an additional master’s in special education from Cambridge College, and a specialist degree in educational leadership from Cambridge. He has taught special education in Augusta since 2004.
