Tanker wreck closes I-520 near Ascauga Lake Road
A tanker truck carrying liquid nitrogen overturned in the westbound lanes of I-520 near Ascauga Lake Road around 11 a.m. causing a complete closure until about 7:30 p.m. No leaks were reported and the driver was rescued with non life threatening injuries. Traffic was halted with evacuations within a half mile, including the DMV and a gas station, before being lifted around 2 p.m. The crash remains under investigation by the North Augusta Highway Patrol.
