The 25th Infantry Division will be pulled out of Vietnam with two of its three brigades leaving by Christmas. The 4th Infantry Division and the 5th Marine Regiment also will be withdrawn under a Nixon plan reducing U.S. forces by 40 000 by year’s end, to a total strength of 344 000. The 25th brigades headed home to Hawaii with the division headquarters.
