Shawn Hoppaugh answered a rental ad for a two bedroom Atwater house owned by 86 year old Russian immigrant Maral Saber. The Hoppaugh family fixed up the home and lived there ten days before leaving town after discovering the mix up. Police called it an honest mistake likening it to a Clampett style mix up. Detective Bill Frost noted the case and the family’s confusion over the vacant house across the street.
