Community events fill Aiken area today across clubs and culture
Multiple groups host gatherings in Aiken and surrounding towns. The B G Barnard E Lee Camp 1575 invites male descendants and the public to supper at Bobby's BBC then a 7 p.m. meeting. St Mary's Retired Adults meet at noon with reservations due by Oct 12. Aiken Camellia Society meets 7:30 p.m. with guest Ted Stephens. Lights on Afterschool runs 3–5 p.m. at East Aiken Elementary. Public workshops on downtown design run 6:30–8 p.m. Tickets and details vary across events.

Friends of the Edisto to hold annual meeting at Aiken State Natural Area
The Friends of the Edisto will hold its annual meeting Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Aiken State Natural Area. The event features conservation group exhibits, a talk on conservation easements, demonstrations, a pig pickin and nature activities. Rep. James Smith will speak on conservation issues.
