Breast cancer awareness stressed at Kiwanis meeting
Maggie T. Dorsey of the University of South Carolina Aiken spoke at the Aiken Kiwanis Club luncheon on October breast cancer awareness. She cited American Cancer Society estimates of 192000 new invasive breast cancer cases in women and 1500 in men annually, with about 40000 women and 400 men dying nationwide. Early detection and regular screening are urged for women 40 and older, with guidelines for younger women and lifestyle factors linked to risk.
