In Tullahoma Tennessee scientists use a national network to map where lightning will strike next. The goal is to protect computers rockets and high tech experiments and perhaps someday predict strikes to save lives. After a five hour executive session the board announced the public would be allowed to speak Monday at 7. Beverly Clyburn, vice chair, said a meeting site had not yet been selected. The session began at 6 pm.

Board Extends Session Votes On Public Speakers

Testimony To Continue In Smith Murder Retrial
In McCormick Circuit Court Perry Bush Smith on trial for the Aug 19 1983 death of Johnston Postmaster Charles McGee and shooting of Allen Thomas. Nine state witnesses testified the first day and another witness was to testify today before the defense presents its case. Smith pleads not guilty by reason of insanity. He was previously found guilty.

Judge orders new trial after SC justice blanks conviction
In 1985 Ed gefield Circuit Court, a defendant’s first trial was later overturned by South Carolina Supreme Court Justice Julius Ness. Ness found a defense psychiatrist’s question improper and held that jury instructions were faulty. A retrial was granted after a closed June hearing.
