Contract Awarded For K-Reactor Cooling Tower
Marley Cooling Tower Co. of Mission Kansas won a 16.8 million contract to build the cooling tower for Savannah River Site’s K-Reactor. Westinghouse Savannah River Co. announced the award after energy secretary Watkins approved construction following a cost drop from 127 million to 82 million. Construction starts next year with a March 1992 completion target and a December 31 1992 operating deadline. Groundwork has begun and DOE budgeting shows 14 million in the prior year and 30 million this year.
