SCE&G Profits From Small Customers Rise Said by Analyst
A study by Commonwealth Services concludes small electricity customers yield higher earnings for SCE&G than large volume buyers. William W. Eyers told the Public Service Commission that industrywide trends show heavy users produce lower earnings. State Rep Arnold Goodstein challenged the study’s data sources as AFL-CIO and Building Trades Council oppose a rate increase. The commission planned to adjourn, with hearings resuming next Tuesday. The utility seeks a 13 percent electricity rate hike and a 22 percent gas rate boost.
