Mrs Mamie D King Rites Planned In North Augusta

Mrs Mamie King of North Augusta died Saturday at her home. Funeral arrangements are to be announced by Peoples Funeral Home of Augusta. A Edgefield native and Old Macedonia Baptist Church member, she is survived by son Jessie Burris and daughter Leola Key, both of North Augusta.

Obituary for John G Beard Aiken County resident dies at 75

John G Beard, 75, of Rt. 5 Aiken, died Friday after a several week illness at Aiken County Hospital. Funeral services were held at First Christian Church Jackson with Rev. H Lawson Shepherd and Rev. Olin D Giles officiating. Burial followed in Jackson Memorial Cemetery. He was a native of Aiken County and lifelong member of First Christian Church. Fire Prevention programs in Aiken County schools

Fire officials in Aiken County plan films talks and literature for students. Busbee said homework fire safety inspection blanks will be sent home for parents to complete and post on fire downtown. He noted last year 150 house fires with only two safely inspected and 2,500 homes on record.

Aiken County Sheriff's Department investigates the theft of four pistols from Edwards Department Store in Midland Valley, including a .38 Colt and a .22 caliber pistol. Police report two county break ins, separate home thefts, vandalism, and a weekend assault resulting in hospital treatment.
