Aiken blotter details arrests and thefts across area
A North Augusta man was arrested for expired registration no proof of insurance and driving under suspension after a 4 20 a m stop on Richland Avenue. A 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse had shaving cream sprayed on its driver side door handle and window at Home Depot on Whiskey Road. A Graniteville man shoplifted two videos and two clothing items at Target on Whiskey Road and was released on a courtesy summons. Gunshots were heard near Holiness Church Road Wagener but no injuries were found. A Windsor man is a kidnapping suspect involving his common law spouse and their 1 year old child with custody disputes cited. Larceny was reported on Palmetto Avenue Belvedere with a pocket theft of $313. A Warrenville woman reported $720 in jewelry stolen from a car trunk on Bettis Academy Road. A cell phone worth about $100 was stolen from Busbee Elementary School. Two 27 inch TVs valued at about $600 were stolen from a Hampton Avenue home in Belvedere. Charles Berry Jr 32 of Greenville was arrested for assault and battery after choking and striking a female acquaintance on Beaverdam Road while intoxicated.

Burned-out car linked to teen shooting victim
The charred remains of a four door 1993 Dodge were found on Arbutes Hill Road and tied by a vehicle tag to Robert Cook of 228 Sangaree Drive in West Columbia, the father of 18-year-old Jason Bernard Cook. The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting death.
