The September U S unemployment rate climbs to 10.1 percent the highest since 1940 with 450000 more jobs lost bringing 11.3 million Americans unemployed and 1.6 million discouraged workers. Part time employment rises to a record 6.6 million fueling protests at the Labor Department.
