The Country Gardeners Garden Club began the 1995 96 year with a welcome back meeting at Crystal Olsen s home on September 20. Yearbooks were distributed and Kitty Windham newly elected president led in a poem. Plans include trips to Riverbanks Botanical Gardens and a Christmas Auction fundraiser. A $500 quilt sale for the Dollhouse landscape project was announced. Lor raine Jones spoke on the Coker Springs project. The group decided to relinquish involvement with the Sons of Confederate Veterans Barnard E B Camp and will select another project. The next meeting is October 20 at Christine Huzella s home with Whit Gibbons presenting on environment and ecology. Refreshments followed.

A retired Army warrant officer’s allegations against eight Shaw Air Force officers were dismissed by 9th Air Force Commander Lt Gen John P Jumper. Col Terrence A Curtin ruled no evidence supported the charges of conspiracy conduct unbecoming an officer false imprisonment maltreatment and obstruction of justice in the Shaw Air Force Base Officers Club probe.
