President Nixon will reveal Phase 2 details in a White House briefing as the 90 day wage price freeze ends. Officials signal no profit controls and only limited rate ceilings possible while medical cost controls are expected.
An attorney-advisor for the National Park Service said he was told to treat Pres. Nixon’s close friend Bebe Rebozo with kid gloves in buying land for the Biscayne National Monument, island chain south of Miami, Florida, according to Newsday via UPI.

Ground fighting diminished to patrol clashes and shelling with no reported US casualties. Typhoon Elaine slowed operations and the Americal Division 1st Infantry was deactivated reducing US strength by about 900 men.
The Atomic Energy Commission confirmed a layoff of 20 workers at the Savannah River Plant near Aiken by end of fiscal year June 30 1972. The cutback aligns with Nixon administration plans to shrink federal employment and does not affect DuPont contractor staff of about 5000.
