St Mary students celebrate World Animal Day with animal costumes
Fifth to eighth graders from St Mary Help of Christians School visited Park Avenue in Aiken to observe biotic and abiotic life as part of World Animal Day. Students wore animal ears, painted faces, and studied frogs, crickets, spiders, leaves, and more under the theme Animals. Poppy from the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory presented live animals like turtles and snakes, while bells were replaced by animal sounds to mark class changes. The day began with a prayer service and ended with a blessing of animals for parishioners. The event supports World Animal Day goals to raise animal welfare globally.
