Emergency officials warn of dangerous floodwaters and wind gusts as a heavy rain event floods Wagener and other areas. I-95 near Columbia closes a 70 mile stretch while more roads and bridges in Aiken County flood, prompting a 211 advisory and boil water notice for New Holland Water System customers.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation reports a 70 mile I-95 closure between I 20 and I 26 due to flooding. In Aiken County as of 6 22 p m Sunday multiple roads including Aiken Road Warner Street Cumbee Trail Old Shoals Road Hollow Creek Road Cooper Pond Road and several others are closed or reduced to one lane with bridges washed out or nearing washout. Local detours and restrictions affect Wagener Monetta Salley and Sandy Ridge areas with numerous roads listed as closed or partially closed.
