The Supreme Court refused to hear a telemarketing challenge to the federal do-not-call registry. It upheld a 64 million number list as a legitimate privacy protection under a 2003 law with penalties up to 11000 dollars per call. Charities polls and political callers are exempt from the rules.

Supreme Court Monday terms diverse cases and rulings

Justices heard whether judges can extend prison terms without juries, considered free legal aid for guilty defendants appealing, and declined to review the do not call list. They refused to disturb a California religious employer contraceptive coverage ruling and rejected Roy Moore’s appeal. Other actions included MT campaign limits, IRS release of audit names, tribal gambling support, golf score rights, double jeopardy in Louisiana, and gun show bans on government property. The court also denied Qatar detainee Ali al Marri's appeal and sidestepped a local California ordinance on gun shows.
