Sailor survives two month ordeal at sea with floss repairs
Florida sailor Terry Watson, missing for more than two months, was rescued off the South Carolina coast. Coast Guard says he endured storms and used tape and dental floss to repair a ripped mainsail while drifting with a damaged sailboat. He was dehydrated, disoriented, and later transported for psychiatric evaluation. He had steered a 23 foot sailboat toward Denmark, then south as storms worsened, and a search covered 8,000 square miles before a charter boat spotted him near Little River Inlet.
