Former Youngbloods singer Jesse Colin Young and wife Constance Darden Young plan a two story home on seven acres in Aiken's Historic District near Laurens and Newberry Streets and Coker Springs Road adjoining Hitchcock Woods. They expect to relocate from Kona coast Hawaii next summer and attend a Design Review Board meeting today to seek approval for the 4944 square foot residence at 527 and 557 Laurens St. Mon Repos was the Hitchcock family estate.

Ceremony honors victims of domestic violence in Columbia

Ronald Patterson and Sharon Youmans, both victims of domestic violence in Aiken County, were named at a State House ceremony. Patterson, 34, was killed Jan. 6, 2004, by his girlfriend Lee Ross, who pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and received a 10 year sentence.

Traps Catch First Coyote in Hitchcock Woods Project

A 15 to 20 pound juvenile coyote was trapped in Hitchcock Woods near Aiken amid a controversial coyote removal plan. The animal was shot per state law, with traps placed off trails and baited by deer parts. Dr Jeffrey Priest of USC Aiken will study its diet and health.
