Tree rings push back age dating across ancient world
At Cornell University a lab is collecting yearly tree rings back to 7500 B.C. to date wood and charcoal from archaeological sites. The method could refine artifact ages by decades, shifting dates on events and changing views of Aegean and Near Eastern chronology.
