Massey Wins Runoff For Senate District 25 Seat
The runoff winner Massey, a Clemson and USC Law graduate, beat Hixon after a campaign focused on tax cuts and government reform. Gov. Sanford praised Massey’s pro reform platform as he heads toward the general election. The seat was vacated last July when Sen. Tommy Moore resigned to join the payday lending industry in Washington, D.C.

USC and USCA plan campus growth with new building and walkways
Sorensen notes USCA aims to update its master plan with a new academic classroom building as priority while resolving parking. USC seeks to move athletic facilities across the street near the Convocation Center and consider an overhead walkway or tunnel. He cites in-state retention, collaboration with Savannah River National Laboratory, and need to boost local business ties to keep graduates in South Carolina. He warns many high schoolers skip prerequisites for engineering and sciences and urges service learning and citizenship at convocation.
