Court To Hear Legislator's Petition For Judge Change

U S District Court Judge Charles E Simons Jr will hear a motion Monday by former House member Luther Taylor seeking to disqualify US District Court Judge Falcon Hawkins from presiding over his retrial. Taylor, of Columbia, was among two dozen lawmakers and lobbyists caught in an FBI sting three years ago for selling votes for cash. He was convicted in 1990 on six corruption charges and given six and a half years in federal prison.
