A Pennsylvania man, identified as Dr. McLain of Erie, plans to erect a winter residence on a large lot purchased from Mrs. M. E. Chafee on Lancaster street between Herman Hahn and Real Estate Fidelity Company near Highland Park golf links. Construction is expected to begin soon. Dr. McLain is married to Miss Boatwright of Johnston, South Carolina.

Supt. Cecil H. Seigler purchases a modern $2,150 truck for Wind sor school use. It will transport Mt. Beulah district pupils to the new Windsor high school which currently enrolls 275 students and expects more.
Sheriff Robinson and officers seized an eighty gallon copper still with appurtenances used for illegal distilling in the Calvary church district. They found 600 gallons of mash at the site, which was emptied. Federal agent J. Ed Andrews and Deputy Sheriff Sheppard assisted. no arrests were made.
Senator John F. Williams reports the South Carolina Railroad Commission authorized a restored early morning mail train by the Southern Railway starting next Sunday. Train No. 18 from Augusta to Branchville will depart Augusta to reach Branchville and return to Aiken by about 9 o clock, ensuring morning mail. a citizen committee protested prior removal and the Chamber of Commerce pressed for service.
Sidney Langford, a young white man from Union, was wounded in Hawthorne last Thursday when Roland Murray, an officer, shot him during a pursuit over a car theft case in Columbia. Langford fled to Hawthorne with an abandoned car and the chase ended on Ellenton road.
Miss Clara Louise Scott and H C Frain of North Augusta were married Monday at 7 pm in the Methodist parsonage. The ceremony was conducted by Rev P L Boukmight in a union described as a marriage of interest.
Deborah Rath Kennedy, 60, a former Aiken County resident, died at her Postal Georgia home Sunday. She is survived by her husband W E Kennedy two sons Lagree and Liz Kennedy of Jacksonville Fla a daughter Mrs Gladys Gunter of Bethcar three brothers H B Senter Ridge Spring I F and Boyd Keith of Columbia and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Bethear Church. Burial followed at Bethear Cemetery with Rev Baker officiating.
