The Doris C. Gravat Detention Center released a bookings list for Sept 27 to 29. It names many arrestees with charges from kidnapping and burglary to drug offenses and contempt of court. Some detainees may have posted bond and been released. entries reflect arrests and charges, not guilt.
Aiken Department of Public Safety reports a Fairfax man, Steve Breeland, 46, charged after driving erratically on South Boundary Avenue. He presented a SC ID, failed field sobriety tests, and recorded a blood alcohol level of 0.16. A female passenger was escorted home. Breeland has three prior driving under suspension charges.
A 17 year old Aiken High student was detained for third degree assault after allegedly striking a 16 year old in the school bus area. A Richland Avenue restaurant owner reported a scam attempt demanding money orders to keep power on. A 26 year old man was detained for DUI on Whiskey Road after reckless driving and failed sobriety tests. A 27 year old Ridge Spring man cited for DUI after speeding and alcohol. Two unknown men attempted to steal about 125 in alcohol on Richland Avenue. Roof access damage at Aiken Center for the Arts led to equipment theft. A 37 year old Charlotte man detained for shoplifting two beers on Richland Avenue. Damage to air conditioner unit on Lancaster Street. Burglary reported on Photinia Drive in which a water heater and air handler were damaged. A Martinez man reported tire slashing on Whiskey Road. A Jackson woman reported a prowler. windows were broken but entry did not occur. Burglaries on Warrenville Pelzer Street Amazing Grace Street Hillman Street. A vehicle break in on Huntsman Drive with wallet taken.
