Johnstown Bridge Contract Awarded to J L Carroll
The contract to build the bridge over the Southern Railway at Johnstown near Bath in Horsecreek Valley has been let to J L Carroll of Columbia. The bridge will replace a dangerous grade on the Aiken Asta highway project and work starts immediately with the highway to open to the public upon completion.

Langley Boy Shot. Brother Fires Accidental Rifle Incident
Quincy Porter, 13, son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Porter of Langley, was accidentally shot in the back Tuesday evening by his older brother during a bird hunting party. The gun was being breeched when loaded. He was taken to an Augusta hospital where doctors removed the bullet and said the injury was not fatal.

West Pelzer elects first woman mayor Mrs Garret
South Carolina city of West Pelzer in Anderson County names Mrs J M Garret as mayor defeating W L Rowe by four votes as the first female mayor in the state. Anderson damage suit proceeds after deadly pole crash
The case centered on Marcus Anderson foreman for Carolina Light and Power Co killed July 8 1925 when a carload of 1000 to 1100 pound telephone poles rolled off a flat car. Dr Hastings H Wyman testified to a crushed skull and internal injuries. Witnesses said poles were improperly secured and distributed by workers. Attorneys for Hendersons & Salley and Williams Croft & Busbee argued the directed verdict motion Thursday morning.
