Three Aiken groups the Valley Empty Stocking Fund the Salvation Army and the Aiken Jaycees launched drives to help hundreds of residents. The Valley fund raised 11000 last year aiding 223 families and will print donor names unless anonymous.

County Tax Books To Open Tomorrow In Aiken

Aiken County tax books will open tomorrow for 1982 property tax collection after a three month delay due to reassessment and millage changes. Treasurer Margie Plunkett notes notices mailed yesterday and urges taxpayers to review notices before paying. Taxes may be mailed or paid at the County Office Complex on Richland Avenue with a total 1982 millage of 138.5 for county and schools and 93 for Belvedere water and 29.4 for College Acres Public Works.
